Meet the Counsellor
Hello there, I'm Meaghan!
I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), educator, and school counsellor who creates spaces where children, teens, young adults, and parents feel seen, safe, and supported. I offer compassionate, trauma-informed counselling in Vancouver and virtually across British Columbia, helping clients navigate challenges, transitions, relationships, and moments of change.
My experience as an educator and school counsellor has given me a unique understanding of child and adolescent development, school environments, and the many factors that shape a young person’s emotional well-being. My work is grounded in trauma-informed, attachment-based, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches, with a focus on meeting people where they are emotionally, developmentally, and relationally.
With specialized training and clinical supervision in Play Therapy, I support children and families through a child-centred approach that recognizes play as an important way children communicate, process emotions, and make sense of their experiences.
A little more about me
Where Education Meets Therapeutic Care
Bringing together experience in the classroom and clinical counselling to support children, teens, and families with insight, practicality, and compassion.
My work as both an educator and Registered Clinical Counsellor allows me to bring a unique perspective to therapy for children, teens, young adults, and families. With years of experience supporting students in school settings, I understand the social, emotional, developmental, and academic challenges young people may face.
This background strengthens my counselling practice by helping me meet clients where they are, collaborate with parents and caregivers, and offer practical, compassionate support that fits into real everyday life.
Bridging Home, School, and Therapy
Supporting children, teens, parents, and educators through collaboration, connection, and shared understanding.
With a Graduate Diploma in Special Education, a BC Teaching Certificate, and over 10 years of experience working in schools, I bring a unique perspective that bridges clinical, educational, and community settings. My background as both an educator and Registered Clinical Counsellor allows me to understand the many factors that shape a child or teen’s emotional well-being, relationships, and experiences at school and at home.
I support families in navigating challenges within school systems, strengthening communication, and creating greater connection between the important people in a child’s life. Whether supporting parents through school-related concerns or helping children and teens build emotional skills and self-understanding, my goal is to create a more connected, compassionate environment where young people and families can thrive.
Supporting Young Adults and Adults Through Life’s Transitions
Life transitions can bring both excitement and uncertainty. From starting university and adjusting to independence, to navigating relationships, career changes, and new responsibilities, these seasons of life often require us to adapt in new ways.
I support young adults and adults as they navigate identity development, changing roles, stress, and the many demands of everyday life. I also work with clients who experience executive functioning challenges, helping them better understand their strengths, identify barriers, and develop realistic strategies to support organization, planning, emotional regulation, and managing daily responsibilities.
With a neurodiversity-affirming and compassionate approach, I recognize that challenges with motivation, time management, focus, and follow-through are often connected to how our brains work rather than a lack of effort or ability. Together, we can explore strategies that fit your life, values, and unique needs.
Whether you are balancing university, relationships, work, parenting, or a major life transition, therapy can provide a space to build self-understanding, confidence, and tools for moving forward.
Meet My Assistant
Meet Simba, my unofficial (but very dedicated) therapy assistant. With 4 years of experience in both classrooms and therapy settings, he considers himself highly qualified in offering comfort, comic relief, and the occasional well-timed cuddle. While he won’t be taking notes, he is excellent at helping clients feel at ease and reminding us all not to take life too seriously.
